AERO-COS promotes and encourages interest in amateur radio, provides Ham Radio licensing classes and examinations, provides community service with emphasis on emergency communications preparedness, and participates in STEM activities within the Colorado Springs region.

The purpose of the club is to promote the hobby and practice of amateur radio, further the education of its members in amateur radio theory and practice, promote emergency preparedness through amateur radio, and provide social gathering opportunities for Aerospace radio amateurs. The club provides opportunities for members to participate in emergency preparedness exercises, contests, Field Day activities, radio licensing classes, and other activities related to amateur radio. The club maintains and operates an amateur radio station at the Aerospace Colorado Springs Getting Heights facility, with call sign AEØRO, for the purposes of emergency communications and support of the club’s radio operating activities.

The club operate with funds obtained through club dues, the AEA, and occasional fundraising activities. Club dues are $20 per year per member, pro-rated quarterly. Membership is open to current and retired Aerospace employees, military personnel and their families, and other interested members of the Colorado Springs community. Current membership is approximately 30 members. AEØRO conducts monthly High Frequency (HF) contact attempts, from our Ham Shack at COS1, with both the AGO and Chantilly Ham stations to exercise this alternate communications link between these three Aerospace locations.

 Meetings: 
AERO-COS conducts monthly meetings, and quarterly business meetings. These meetings are to discuss club business, plan for upcoming events, conduct technical or training sessions, and assess potential future equipment purchases.

Aerospace employees and retirees: $20/year; Non-employees: $25/year.
