January 27, 2005 AEA Amateur Radio Club Meeting Minutes

Treasurer, Sarah Ostapchuk, N9ZZT, presented the financial report. Cash on hand is $2,825 and there were 33 members at the end of 2004.

Four attendees signed up during the meeting.

Old Business:
The club web page needs to revised and kept up to date. Kirk Crawford, KG6MTE, volunteered to be the club webmaster. The meeting schedule and club briefing charts will be available on our web site.

New Business:
Meetings for 2005 will be on the last Thursday of the month in A3 Dining Room, except for 24 February in A1/1082, and 17 November in A3 Dining Room B and the Christmas party in December.

Bill Wysock recommended several topics for future meetings and dates were proposed for some of these:

• Videotape showings using ARRL tapes
• Guest Speakers (Dick Norton, the ARRL Regional VP)
• Safety and Security role of Aerospace hams (31 March)
• Antique Radios
• Club's Software Defined Radio capability
• Amateur TV
• Mobile HF DXing with Ed Warren, K8RD (26 May)
• Internet Amateur Radio with Mike Gorlick, KF6YYV (28 April)
• Review of Field Day (28 July)
• UHF/VHF Contesting with Mike Gorlick, KF6YYV (27 October)

Frank Voit, K3FV, volunteered to set up the club Christmas party on 14 December (note this is a Wednesday) at the Hacienda Hotel in El Segundo. A motion was made and passed unanimously to hold the party at the hotel.

Frank will start licensing classes on 2 February in A2/2079 during lunchtime. He recommended that the club purchase a combined DVD and VHS tape player without a monitor for class use. A motion was made and passed unanimously that this purchase not exceed $150.00.
