February 24, 2005 AEA Amateur Radio Club Meeting Minutes

The meeting came to order at 11:38 with President Bill Wysock presiding. Nine members and one guest were present. Our guest was Dick Norton, N6AA. Dick is our Southwestern Division Director of the ARRL. He spoke about his first meeting at ARRL-HQ in January. There are a total of 15 directors that represent all ARRL members nation wide. Dick spoke about the declining numbers of new members in recent times and discussed his position about not raising annual membership dues. He also brought several ARRL video tapes and the membership watched a short video on the early formative days of the ARRL including the predecessor of the HQ station W1AW. We watched this tape on a newly purchased DVD/VHS player that was purchased for the club by Frank Voit-K3FV.

Kirk Crawford-KG6MTE was thanked for his efforts in updating our club web site: http://www.aeaclubs.org/w6ago/. Other club business discussion included the notation that our club Treasurer, Sarah Ostapchuk-N9ZZT needs to coordinate the clubs checking account signature authorization to include the current president and vice president. Frank Voit-K3FV, announced that the recent VE testing session here at the corporation produced two new no-code technician class licensees. The meeting was adjourned at 12:45 hrs.

Our next meeting will be March 31 and will be located in the dining room B in building A-3. Our vice president Victor Cortez-KD6YWS, will present a talk on the corporation's focus on emergency communications preparedness.

Respectfully submitted,
Bill Wysock-N6UXW
