March 30, 2006 AEA Amateur Radio Club Meeting MinutesMP3 Audio recording of the meeting. The AEA Amateur Radio Club met at lunchtime on 30 March 2006. We met in A2/2055 because A1/1082 was closed off due to a classified meeting in A1/1062. The meeting was devoted to the hams in Chantilly. Michael Kramer (KB4TRV) is the Chantilly Director. There is currently $2,000.00 available for club expenses in Chantilly.
We discussed the need for a better antenna for the A2 Ham Shack in order to reliably provide emergency communications with Aerospace operations on the East Coast, particularly Chantilly. The radio equipment in the shack is very good but the HF antenna does not provide sufficient gain toward the east. We are going to explore lightweight high gain antennas for the 10, 15, and 20 meter bands. Once we have the equipment in place we plan to schedule regular contacts with Chantilly amateur radio operators.
We also discussed club support for Safety and Security Day on 15 June 2006. The next meeting will be in the A3 dining room on 27 April 2006.
