Article I – Purpose

The purpose of the AEA Amateur Radio Club shall be to promote and to encourage interest in amateur radio among employees and associates and to provide community service, with emphasis on emergency communications preparedness, through amateur radio.

Article II – Relationship to Aerospace Employees Association

Section 1
The Aerospace Employees Association, as parent organization, shall govern the actions of the AEA Amateur Radio Club through its By-Laws and directors, where appropriate.

Section 2
Policies not specifically covered in these by-laws shall be governed in accordance with the Aerospace Employees Association By-Laws.

Section 3
Membership categories for the AEA Amateur Radio Club shall be as specified in the Aerospace Employees Association By-Laws. However, a 10% ratio of Associate membership shall be allowed as voted on by the AEA Amateur Radio Club. Persons interested may become members by payment of dues to the AEA Amateur Radio Club Dues.

Article III – Officers

Section 1
The Officers of this club shall be: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Director. The Director will be the immediate past President of the Club. These Officers shall constitute the Executive Committee of the club.

Section 2
The term of office shall be one year. There will be no term limits.

If the previous President is holding another office after his or her term of office has expired; then the last President holding that office shall be appointed to the office of Director. If that person is presently holding an another office of the Amateur Radio Club then the next In line, of past Presidents shall be appointed to the office of Director.

Section 3
Each Officer of the club shall be a licensed amateur radio operator.

Section 4
The duties of the Officers shall be as appropriate for the title. Station Managers may be appointed by the Executive Committee, and they shall be responsible for maintaining the club station sites and equipment. Other duties may be determined and assigned by the Executive Committee.

Section 5
The Executive Committee shall be responsible for the activities, property, and the treasury of the club. Expenditures will be made by the Executive Committee. For expenditures in excess of one hundred dollars ($100) the membership shall be notified in advance of the proposed expenditure. This notice must be given at the preceding regular club meetings, or in writing at least ten days in advance of the meeting at which a vote is taken. A majority vote of those members present, and those absent who have provided a written statement on the question, when a vote is taken shall be required to prevent the expenditure. All withdrawals from the club account require dual authorization. The authorized signers are the President and Treasurer of the club.

Article IV – Dues

The yearly dues shall be $18 payable in the month of October. New members shall be charged on a prorated monthly basis who join later in the year. New members will be charged at a rate per month for membership and rounding off the membership fee to the nearest dollar. Air Force and others that are not employed by The Aerospace Corporation can also become members of the AEA Amateur club by paying the $24 per year membership dues. Retired and family/associate members will have dues of $12 per year.

Article V – By-Laws

The By – Laws for the Amateur radio club may be modified as follows: Upon the request of any member or members to propose a change in the By- Laws. A vote will be taken of the club members that are in attendance of the club meeting. The majority of the attending club members must approve the changes and the changes will be adapted to the By-Laws at that time. This proposed changes in the BY – Laws, must be voted on by at least 20% of the membership of the club, at a club meeting.

Article VI – Meetings

There shall be at least one regular meeting once a month. Except for special occasions at the Aerospace corporation that occur on the same day as the normal day, of the club meeting. Announcement of all regular meetings will be by E – Mail and or the club Web – Site, at least two weeks before the meeting date.

Article VII – Rules of Order

In matters of parliamentary procedures, business shall be conducted according to Robert’s Rules of Order, Revised.

Article VIII – Raffle Rules

The rules for the raffle at the annual Christmas party will be that a single person is only allowed to win one prize. If you win a higher prize then you can choose which prize you want to keep and the other prize is returned to the pool for another drawing.

Article IX- Club Documents

All official club documents (Inventory, Membership List, Budget, etc.) will be stored in the cloud and available to all club officers.

These By-Laws were adopted by the club vote on May 1, 1978 and amended on March 3, 1980, April 7, 1980, July 7, 1980, August 11, 1992, November 4, 1994, June 30, 2005, January 29, 2009, and September 25, 2014, March 31, 2022.
